Route

「 Route

” The Route Series” Miki Momma

Since 2013, she has produced colored landscape paintings of areas between Tokyo and Sendai—a route that bypasses the nuclear power plant, which anyone can see by taking public transportation—as well as coastal areas of Fukushima Prefecture that few people have seen except for in news coverage. Her hometown was devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. She has made more than 100 trips between Tokyo and Soma to express and record the reconstruction of the landscape, including the area around the nuclear power plant, in her “Route” series of oil and acrylic paintings.
